In this studio, we will overview a few collaborative learning applications.  Each of these is both free and easily accessible and offers different ways for learners to collaborate both in and out of the class.  Padlet.com is perhaps the most versatile way to collaborate and share on an online “bulletin” board where text, audio, videos, images and files can be shared.  For instructors, it has multiple possible uses for both asynchronous and synchronous use.  Wikis offer different ways for students to co-create knowledge and material and rather than being author-centric they are topic-centric in they facilitate community-building and knowledge creating collaboratively.  While they have been around for some time now, they have a place in many classes and there is a rich array of ways that they can be used in higher education.  Each studio has a “challenge” asking participants to create something so it is helpful to come with an idea of what you might want to create so your work is of practical real benefit to you in the future.  In these studios, we encourage participants to also share their work with colleagues as a way to collectively learn and see how others adopt and use these tools.
