Let’s Talk about the next upsetting news clip, and how to facilitate courageous conversations online 

This session invites us to plan for the uncertain semester ahead.  It is inevitable that there will be upsetting and unsettling news, how will we respond authentically to our students?  What should we say or not say?   How do we take care of our own well-being while offering guidance to students? 

Participants will: 

• Discover support services for students and how to refer 

• Share strategies for having courageous conversations

How do you acknowledge that students are differently impacted by the news cycle? 

What are some strategies to communicate care and compassion while teaching online? 

What do you do when students bring forward hard topics in an online environment?
