This workshop will focus on a Land-based: Place Based approach that uses an Indigenized and environmentally-focused approach to education by first recognizing the deep, physical, mental, and spiritual connection to the land that is a part of Indigenous cultures. This method of approach of Indigenous pedagogy teaching and learning seeks to offer education pertaining to the Land that is grounded within Indigenous knowledge. Through this method of approach, students will have access to local Indigenous knowledge keepers with respect to the cultural protocols of the Indigenous local community.

It is important for faculty, sessional instructors and staff to understand that the land is the text. It is about how students gain, or re-gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies of cultural standards of the past and present practices and it is still a valuable source of knowledge today.
