If you want to determine how well your students are learning and learn how to foster engagement through formative assessment, this two-part workshop is for you! Based on the book Learning Assessment Techniques: A Handbook for College Faculty by Elizabeth Barkley and Claire Major, this workshop will share some of the key concepts about and strategies for formatively assessing student learning that can be used in any discipline and any class modality. Participants will then try one of the book’s strategies in their class and report back to the group. As an added bonus, all participants will receive a copy of the book!
