Today's classrooms are increasingly diverse, reflecting a wide range of student identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences. This diversity enriches the learning environment by bringing multiple perspectives and ways of knowing, but it also calls for intentional, inclusive teaching practices that recognize and respond to students’ varied needs. The Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on Inclusive Classrooms aims to build a collaborative community where faculty members engage in dialogue, share experiences, and discuss literature to support the diverse needs of all students.

This FLC focuses on cultivating teaching strategies that address a broad range of student identities and learning preferences. For the first 6 meetings, we will read and discuss topics such as learning theories, culturally responsive teaching, active learning, and inclusive assessment. At the last meeting on April 15, we will host a roundtable session for FLC participants to share their learning with the broader TRU community.

This is an exciting opportunity for faculty with an interest in, or desire to learn more about, strategies for fostering an inclusive classroom. Faculty accepted to join the FLC will be provided with a complimentary copy of the book Inclusive College Classrooms by Lauren Cardon and Anne-Marie Womack (2022). Participants are expected to attend the full series of the 2025-26 FLC meetings. Dates and times are listed in the registration form. Participants that fulfill their commitment will receive a certificate of completion.

Successful applicants are expected to attend all 7 sessions in person.
