On the occasion of Accessibility Week, the TRU Community of Practice on Universal Design for Learning will be welcoming members of the campus at large for an introductory, conversational session on UDL.
New to UDL? Interested in learning more about it? Curious as to how it can transform your teaching, your learning, or your journey as a learner?
Join us for this informal and fun gathering for round table discussions. The aim of the session is to provide all faculty, staff, and students with a basic introduction on UDL and a means to begin their journey with the framework.

The inclusion of diverse learners has become an objective of growing importance in the Canadian post-secondary sector. With increased pressure on Accessibility Services and increasing student expectations regarding the provision of inclusive provisions within a mainstreamed whole class approach, the search for user-friendly resources and sustainable frameworks for the design of inclusive practices for instruction and assessment. Universal Design for Learning is triggering interest in the sector as a model to shift mindsets and support instructors.
This CoP offers a monthly opportunity for faculty and staff to discuss the potential of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the strategic ways to integrate it into our reflection on teaching and learning. The CoP will offer all members a supportive environment to explore, reflect, and plan.
The CoP will meet monthly virtually and will be facilitated by Dr. Frederic Fovet, School of Education.
